Dette er er nyttigt når der skal fejlfindes for at teste hele kredsløbet kan modstandsboksen indsættes i stedet for Temperatur , Tankføler eller ligende og dermed kan hele kredsløbet testes incl lednings net og styreboks. Før en evt ny føler installeres.

Modstandsboksen har også en W termonal så den kan benyttes som spændings deler

Resistor type sensors are such sensors that change their resistance when the physical value they control has changed. Anyone who has ever worked in auto diagnostics has come across the necessity of having a suitable resistance, in order to check the efficiency of a sensor or the whole system that includes the sensor.

An Automotive Resistor Substitution Box is a unit containing resistors of many different resistance values, with 3 mechanical switches which allow any one of various discrete resistances offered by the box to be dialed in. This automotive type box offers a convenient way of selecting and quickly changing a resistance, without needing to attach resistors one by one or even stock each value.

The automobile resistor simulator is a very useful tool for simulating, checking and testing all kinds of resistances found in an automobile. You can choose a random resistance value between 0 ohm and 10 000 ohm (10K) with a resolution of 10 ohm. The required resistance value is chosen using 3 rotary switches. Because of this, the necessity of maintaining a stock of resistors, changing one resistor after another and having to decode their color code, is gone.

In order to extend the range of applications of the resistor simulator, there is an extra female banana plug at terminal W (wiper). This way the device can be used as a three-terminal resistor with a sliding contact (potentiometer) when needed.
One commonly used application of this type of connection is the “voltage divider”. Using this if, for example, we have a constant 12V voltage on terminal A and terminal B, terminal W will show a voltage, lesser or equal to the supplying current that can be precisely changed in a wide range using the rotary switches
